Messiah 2027 – 50 Years of UM Choir

In 2027, the University Choir Maastricht celebrates its 50th anniversary. At the same time, we will bid farewell to our conductor Wim Vluggen, who has led the choir for an extraordinary 34 years.

To mark this special milestone, we will present a festive anniversary concert on Saturday, 12 June 2027. On this evening, we will perform Messiah by George Frideric Handel at the MECC Maastricht, in collaboration with the professional orchestra  Baroque & More .

Were you once a member of the University Choir Maastricht?

Alongside the anniversary and farewell concert, we are organising a special Back to UMChoir reunion weekend for former members on 12–13 June 2027. Relive the choir experience, reconnect with old friends, and revisit shared memories. The weekend is all about coming together again, featuring the festive concert at the MECC Maastricht, a big afterparty, and of course the opportunity to sing together once more during a rehearsal and performance in the city centre of Maastricht. For many, the University Choir is about much more than just singing together. It is a community where friendships are formed, memories are made, and music becomes a lasting part of your life. With this reunion weekend, we want to give former members the chance to experience that special feeling again—even if just for a moment, back in those unique UM Choir days.
